Dear Mr. Campbell,

The Greenwich Village Block Associations is a community wide coalition dedicated to preserving and improving the quality of life for residents in Greenwich Village. Community members have been noticing that the St. Vincent’s facility on the triangle between 7th Avenue, Greenwich Avenue, and W. 12th Street is not being properly managed.

Although there are other concerns regarding the facility, the hospital did agree to create and care for a garden.
What passersby see now is a poorly tended, derelict area infested by pigeons during the day and rats during the night. That a hospital should be responsible for a public hazard of this nature is incomprehensible and unacceptable.

We recognize the problem of discouraging pigeon feeding and the rat infestation that often results from it. The GVBA will do all that we can to address a problem that is a Village wide concern.. We do not, however, view this as an excuse for the evident neglect. Please assure that us that you will address the maintenance failures, that you will inform us about what changes will be made and that the community will see immediate improvement.

Thank you,
