This is the freckled face of crime. Daisy — a
7 month old Welsh Springer Spaniel — was enjoying the new
Hudson River Park one balmy August afternoon. While lying on the
pavement, she was chewing a tasty “bully stick.” In
her enthusiasm over her delicious treat, her nether parts (a**)
swiveled onto the grass. An alert HRPT security officer decided
to teach Daisy a lesson....she received a $50 citation....no warning,
a nasty ticket. She was abashed...what an embarassment — HRPT
security in action.
On the evening of October 25, a group of young people approached the
Christopher Street Patrol near the Christopher Street Pier. A man,
bleeding profusely, was lying on the ground. The Patrol rushed to
the injured man’s aid and called 911; St. Vincent’s Hospital
sent an ambulance. After the EMS team administered medical assistance,
the HRPT security team arrived on the scene. Reportedly,
they had been engrossed in conversation in their “security
station,” and failed to notice the incident and/or the following
confusion. When the Patrol found an icepick on the ground and began
to wrap it for the Police, the HRPT team maintained that this was
their jurisidiction and took possession — HRPT security in “action.”
