Queen of Media June 15 Washington Square Park area Movie about Wendy Williams with Robin Givens, film crew at southwest corner of Washington Square erected a physical barrier in the form of yellow caution tape. Rather then asking people if they would mind waiting or taking another route (cameras weren't rolling, they appeared to be on a break) they blocked the path & had someone sitting on a stool as a guard. When an older couple walked up (a stooped, shuffling man and his frail female companion both with canes) this stool-bound sentry told them that "the park is closed for a film shoot." This was plainly confusing to these folks It was also a real inconvenience as half a block was an effort for this couple.

Greenwich Village serves as location for countless movie, television, and commercial film shoots. While these shoots are often annoying (lights, vehicles, noise etc.), many companies are minimally disruptive & contribute to block associations which are primaraily responsible for preserving the ambiance that lures visitors & film makers to our community.
